We were warned it could happen and we did not listen. We had our chances, now it is too late. There is no stopping it once it has begun. For year’s scientist have predicated the inevitable. The very existance of humanity as at stakes while the dead have risen up against us. On college campuses everywhere the battle is under way in an epic stuggle of Humans versus Zombies.

Next time you are at any given university and see college students running around madly, shooting Nerf guns at each other and screaming in agony, don’t worry it isn’t frat hazing, it is all part of the fun  The wildly popular game being played is called Humans vs. Zombies (HVZ). Other then Antarctica, it is being played on all 6 Continent’s and in countries as far away as Spain, Australia, Denmark, and even Namibia. While it probably started with a bunch of nerd in a basement running around crazy like, this game has evolved way past geekdom.  This game has transcended social barriers and gender biases. Males and females, people of all colors and creeds, jocks, nerds, artists, hipsters- no probably not hipsters, but everyone else is fighting for humanities survival.  Recent games at Texas Tech and Texas State each boasted more then 500 players and there are hundres of colleges participating. Games can last anywhere from a few hours to several days depending on the organizers. If you want to attend an online school try clicking apply for college  today.

Think of it as a big game of tag. Zombies try to physically tag humans thus “eating” them and converting them in more zombies. Humans on the other hand are armed with Nerf guns and have to shoot the zombies before they are infected. A tagged zombie is stunned for 15 minutes and can’t tag humans. If you are out of the armed services and want to continue your education try military college degrees for a degree you will love!

All humans wear bandanas around their arms, as they become zombies they tie the bandanas around their heads to identify them as the now living dead.  The game starts with one “origin” zombie who must then spread the infection by tagging others. While it may not seem like odds are in his favor, things soon start spreading and eventually nearly every human is turned.

The game has official rules but variations exist and they often play elaborate missions.Missions can range from escorting people across campus, take and hold, patrols for lost items, or even assassinations of a particular character.

Of course, the people having the most fun with all of this is Nerf. LIterally, they have sold thousands of guns and ammo to players across the country. To illustrate the point, Nerf teamed up with Toys ‘R Us to release an offical HVZ gun. Making things even more interesting is that the students have begun modifiying the guns to make them more powerful and shoot even further.

So if you are thinking about going back to college, in addition to bringing your books and backpack, be sure to pack a Nerf gun as well.
